The 2011 USA+ Pro Players Golf Classic, the annual event that marks the inception of the Pro Players Foundation and serves as its main fund raiser, is set for May 23, 2011, at Timarron Country Club in Southlake, Texas.

The charity golf tournament began in 2007 as a community effort to assist a decorated police veteran who was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Local business and community leaders and current and retired professional athletes teamed up to host a golf tournament to raise funds. The event drew support from athletes from the NHL, NFL, MLS, MLB, and NBA, as well as from the community as a whole. The success of this event and the partnership between the athletes and the community helped inspire the formation of the Foundation as an ongoing entity dedicated to assisting those in need.

The event typically pairs an athlete with a foursome in an 18 hole, shotgun start format. Participants are treated to a premier gift salon that provides each golfer with a selection of luxury golf items from brands such as Titleist, Footjoy, Calloway, Under Armour, and Nike. The day begins with lunch on the course and ends with a dinner and awards banquet where the Pro Players Cup is given to the professional sports league whose team members attain the best overall average score. Unique contests and raffle prizes round the day’s experience.

The Pro Players Foundation is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children. The group of professional athletes and business and community leaders volunteer their time and talents to help assist disadvantaged youth in the North Texas region through a variety of initiatives. The Foundation relies on charitable contributions from the community, as well as fund raisers such as the golf tournament and PPF’s annual gala, to help them reach its goals.

One of the Pro Players Foundation’s most popular and unique efforts in assisting other charities and promoting the work of the organization is “The Pro Players Foundation Party Hole.” The Party Hole concept was first introduced at the 2008 Pro Players Golf Classic, but has since been expanded to be featured at Major League Baseball’s Alumni Golf  Tournament, the Dallas Stars Foundation Tournament and the Vernon Well’s Perfect 10 Foundation Charity Tournament, among others.

“The PPF Party Hole,” which is sponsored by Copeland’s Restaurant in Southlake, TX, provides golfers with a relaxing atmosphere and upscale venue to enjoy while they wait to tee off. Foursomes can sample gourmet, Cajun-inspired appetizers, a complimentary top-shelf open bar and the finest cigars while they wait for their turn on the tee. “The PPF Party Hole” has quickly become one of the Foundation’s most successful vehicles for improving its visibility and assisting with Player Council recruitment.
